“The Holy Monk of the South..”

Ordained as a monk since his early twenties, Por Tarn Keow cultivated and studied while pilgrimaging through many forestsin South Thailand.

Extremely well known among locals as a holy monk, multiple miracles were documented.. but none as remarkable as the one that defies the laws of biology, which will be soon explained.

Por Tarn Keow passed away at the age of approximately 95 years old in Year 2519 B.E. (1976 A.D.) after ordaining as a monk for more than 70 years. After his demise, as per Buddhist traditions, the disciples prepare to cremate Por Tarn Keow’s body.
Defying laws of biology, Por Tarn Keow’s body did not manage to be incinerated despite being in flames for a prolonged period of time. What is even more astonishing is that even the saffron robes donned by Por Tarn Keow did not manage to burn! Spectators and temple committee members were astounded thus they ceased the cremation and brought Por Tarn Keow’s body back to the temple.

Today, the holy body of Por Tarn Keow is housed within a glass coffin, seemingly unchanged from the day of the cremation 40 odd years ago.

People from all over the world frequently visit the temple to pay their respects to Por Tarn Keow, the Holy Monk of the South.
