In most most humble opinion, this beautiful Phra Chai Wat is one of the best batch of amulets made by Luang Por Kasem.

Blessed in a grand ceremony in Year 2527 B.E. and it is known as Phra Chai Wat “Song Nam”. The word “Song Nam” literally translates to “cleanse” and it is important to note that this particular batch of amulets were made in commemoration of the annual bathing ritual of Luang Por Kasem.

Known as one of the most respected holy monks of the Northern Provinces of Thailand. Luang Por Kasem always abides to strict cultivation to attain enlightenment. He famously quoted that a monk needs nothing but his saffron robes and his alms bowl.

Born as a member of a royal bloodline of the Lampang’s royal family running in his veins, he gave up all material comforts for the sake of his cultivation and assistance to others.

This batch of amulets were made with hand written takruts by at least 70 different top holy monks of the generation.

This particular batch of amulets were made as a set of two pieces, Phra Kring and Phra Chai Wat.

It is extremely uncommon to chance upon a singular Phra Chai Wat, especially this beautiful piece made of NAWALOHA!

The condition of this particular piece is very beautiful and original with the texture immaculately preserved!

There were a total of 3 material variants:

1. SOLID GOLD – 72 pieces made in the world
2. SILVER – 199 pieces made in the world
3. NAWALOHA – 999 pieces made in the world

Amulet as such, are casted using primitive casting methods that involved the pouring of molten alloy into casting mould which will then form the shape of the item. Due to the primitive nature of such casting methods, there are a lot of inconsistencies. 

Air pressure which causes bubbling occurs during the casting process making most pieces having a rough and uneven surface with even some items missing important details thus effectively rendering the item “damaged during the casting process”.

To find one piece as this item featured here, in such a beautiful condition, is an uphill task!
