Across the decades we have spent in this industry, there have been a handful of moments that have genuinely stopped us in our tracks.

What is featured today is the NUMBER 1 MEDALLION by Luang Por Phrom Wat Chong Kae, Nakhon Sawan.

Made in Year 2507 B.E. (1964 A.D.) and it is the 1ST BATCH MEDALLION by Luang Por Phrom..

And what makes this particular example extraordinary is not merely what it is.

It is how magnificently it has been preserved across the decades..

The 1st batch medallion by Luang Por Phrom is differentiated into 2 general variants:

1. Pim Klom Yai (Large Round Mould) – Only 500 pieces made in the world
2. Pim Roop Kai (Oval Shaped Mould) – Only 3,000 pieces made in the world

This featured piece is the Pim Klom Yai (Large Round Mould) and ONLY 1 OF 500 PIECES MADE IN THE WORLD..

Throughout our decades in the trade, we have personally encountered only five examples of this medallion.

Three had suffered substantial wear, with much of their original surface character and finer details already lost.

Another remained in respectable condition, but its owner simply would not sell it despite repeated offers.

And then came this piece. There was no hesitation. We acquired it immediately.

Because when something of this caliber appears, the question isn’t whether another example exists somewhere in the world.

The question is: When will you ever be offered another one?

For us, the answer could quite genuinely be never.

There is another fascinating characteristic of this medallion that is important for collectors to understand.

The Klom Yai is inherently a relatively shallow-struck design.

Someone unfamiliar with the issue might initially mistake this characteristic for wear.

It isn’t. The beauty lies in examining the surviving details within that naturally shallow design.

Look closely at the featured piece.

The seated portrait of Luang Por Phrom remains beautifully defined.

The contours of the face and body remain visible.

The surrounding Thai inscriptions retain their form.

And turn the medallion over:

The elaborate yantra remains remarkably clear and complete.

These are precisely the areas where decades of handling become painfully obvious on lesser examples.

On this specimen, they are remarkably preserved. That distinction is enormously important.

Perhaps our favourite characteristic of this particular piece is something no modern medallion can possess.. More than 60 years of natural ageing.

Across the nickel silver surface is an extraordinary spectrum of naturally developed toning.

Soft silver. Warm champagne. Hints of gold. Subtle blue-green and iridescent hues emerging as the medallion catches the light.

Thai collectors often use the expression “Piu Fai” when discussing desirable original surface character and toning on old metal amulets.

But what matters here isn’t simply colour. It is preservation. An old medallion can be polished until it shines. It can be aggressively cleaned. Its surface can be altered. But once its original ageing and microscopic surface character have been stripped away, six decades of history cannot simply be put back.

That is why seasoned collectors pay such close attention to originality.

And on a medallion produced in a quantity of merely 500 pieces, finding a surviving example with beautiful details and compelling old surface character becomes increasingly difficult with every passing decade

There are amulets that are rare because people describe them as rare.

And there are amulets whose scarcity is written directly into their production history.

This is the latter.

Only 500 were made. More than six decades have passed.

How many remain today? How many remain original? How many retain this level of detail?

And, most importantly for the serious collector:

How many examples of this caliber will actually become available for acquisition?

That is the question that matters.

We cannot know when we will encounter another.

We only know that after decades in this trade, this is the finest example of the 2507 B.E. Pim Klom Yai that we have personally had the privilege of handling.

For us, acquiring it was not simply another purchase.

It was one of those moments that remind us why, after all these years, we remain passionate about this field.
