This featured medallion was made in Year 2523 B.E., commemorating the late Rama IX, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, visiting and paying respect to Luang Por Kasem in the province of Lampang.

Luang Por Kasem was known as one of the most respected holy monks of the Northern Provinces of Thailand. Luang Por Kasem always abides to strict cultivation to attain enlightenment. He famously quoted that a monk needs nothing but his saffron robes and his alms bowl.

Born as a member of a royal bloodline of the Lampang’s royal family running in his veins, he gave up all material comforts for the sake of his cultivation and assistance to others!

It is also very important to note that Luang Por Kasem was one of the very few holy monks that the late King Rama IX paid frequent visits to, signifying the incredible respect that the King has for Luang Por Kasem.

There were two general variants made:

1. Rian Pim Yai (Large Mould Medallion)
2. Rian Pim Lek (Small Mould Medallion)

They were further differentiated into different materials:

1. SOLID GOLD
2. SILVER
3. COPPER

The medallion features the image of Luang Por Kasem in front and the King’s Emblem on the back.

The King’s Emblem is an intricate work of art and culture involving Buddhist iconography and ancient royal symbols of authority as well, such as the multi-tiered white umbrella. The King’s emblems are always topped by the Great Crown of Victory. The Great Crown of Victory is the most important of the five regalia of Thailand,

This featured piece is made of silver and the condition is absolutely exceptional! A truly pristine, beautiful and immaculately preserved medallion! The overall texture majestically gleams with the natural oxidation of silver, resulting in a beautifully and naturally formed iridescent texture that is scattered over the entire surface of the medallion!
