It is simply a beautiful, beautiful medallion, rich in historical, cultural and collectors value!
Highly iconic and it is one of the preeminent Phra Kaew Morokod (Emerald Buddha) medallions blessed by Luang Por Kasem.
Known as Rian Phra Kaew Morokod Benjabaramee. It is so mindbogglingly rare that despite our lengthy experience in this trade, only a handful were seen and we have been extremely lucky to have acquired them all!
The medallion consist of two of the most important Buddha Images of Thailand:
1. Emerald Buddha (Phra Kaew Morokod), the Palladium of Thailand.
2. Phra Chinnaraj, the most beautiful and iconic Buddha Image of Thailand.
Did you know that the Emerald Buddha was originated from the Lanna Kingdom located in the Northern Region of Thailand?
King Sam Fang Kaen wanted it to be in his capital, Chiang Mai, but the elephants carrying the Emerald Buddha, on several occasions insisted in proceeding to Lampang. That was taken as a divine sign and it was housed in a specially built temple known as Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao for the next few decades before moving to other parts of Thailand.
Lampang happens to be where Luang Por Kasem reside this beautiful medallion was made in Year 2517 B.E. depicting Phra Kaew Morokod in its purest form, which is a Buddha Image in a meditating posture without excessive decorations.
What immediately strikes you about this medallion would be the immaculately preserved texture found on the surface. It is gleaming with rainbow hues throughout the texture of the amulet. It is commonly known as “Piu Fai”, translated as “Fire Skin”, among the community!
It is a chemical reaction that occurs when the alloy and the chemicals on the surface of the medallion comes into contact with the atmospheric components in the air which results in an absolutely unique iridescent/rainbow texture.
It is a natural oxidation process that takes decades to occur, and a prime evidence for industry veterans to properly ascertain that it is in the most original condition without signs of wear, damage or any types of human intervention.
Medallions that are worn, damaged, washed or refurbished will not exhibit naturally occurred textures like the item featured today.
The silver variants are extremely rare as only 115 pieces were produced. To find a silver piece is an uphill task, and to locate one made in SILVER yet in such a pristine condition is equivalent of finding a needle in a haystack!
Highly, highly undervalued considering the historical, cultural and collectors value! It is a piece we recommend greatly!
