Known as “Rian Maha Pa Wat Lai Hin” and this particular medallion was blessed by Luang Por Kasem in Year 2518 B.E. in order to raise funds for the construction of the Phra Pariyatti Dhamma School (a school for Buddhist monastic studies) at Wat Lai Hin.

Who is Phra Maha Pa?

Phra Maha Pa, formally known as Kruba Maha Pa (Kaesorn Punyo), is a legendary 17th-century Buddhist saint, scholar, and master of the Thai Forest Tradition from Lampang (historically the Khelang Nakhorn / Lanna region).

Living roughly 300 to 400 years ago (with records tracking his prominent works around 2173–2295 B.E. (1630–1752A.D.), he is regarded as the spiritual “grandmaster” or Maharajakruba of Lampang’s monastic lineage. His lineage flows down through generations to contemporary holy monks like Luang Phor Kasem.

The name “Maha Pa” literally translates to “Great Forest Monk”, reflecting his absolute mastery of strict forest dhutanga (ascetic) practices and intensive vipassana meditation
