Among the many Luang Pu Thuad medallions created following the era of Ajahn Tim, very few have attained the same level of prestige and universal recognition as the remarkable piece we present today.
In our opinion, this is unquestionably one of the most important contemporary Luang Pu Thuad medallions ever created, and without doubt the defining masterpiece of Ajahn Nong.
Known as the Rian Huah Toh (Large Head Medallion), this iconic issue occupies a unique place within the modern history of Luang Pu Thuad collecting.
The design pays homage to the legendary B.E. 2500 First Issue Luang Pu Thuad Medallion, faithfully preserving the unmistakable “Huah Toh” profile that has become one of the most recognisable images in the entire Thai amulet industry.
More significantly, this was the first Luang Pu Thuad “Huah Toh” medallion ever produced in Solid Gold, firmly establishing it as one of the milestone issues in the post-Ajahn Tim era.
Only 257 Solid Gold pieces were ever created.
The featured specimen bears Serial Number 75, one of only 257 individually numbered examples produced worldwide.
For seasoned collectors, the significance of this issue extends far beyond its rarity.
Ajahn Nong is unanimously recognised throughout the Thai amulet community as the spiritual successor to Ajahn Tim of Wat Chang Hai.
Throughout Ajahn Tim’s lifetime, Ajahn Nong worked closely alongside him and played a pivotal role in the creation of many of the Luang Pu Thuad amulets that are today regarded as modern classics. His close association with Ajahn Tim and deep understanding of the Luang Pu Thuad lineage have firmly established him as one of the most respected figures in the continuation of this remarkable tradition.
The Rian Huah Toh was created as Ajahn Nong’s first official Luang Pu Thuad medallion, commemorating the auspicious occasion of his Sixth Cycle (72nd Birthday).
There were multiple material variants made:
1. SOLID GOLD – 257 pieces made in the world
2. SILVER – 1,500 pieces made in the world
3. NAWALOHA – 1,200 pieces made in the world
4. COPPER – 10,000 pieces made in the world
Among these, the Solid Gold variant unquestionably represents the pinnacle of the series.
Over the course of our decades in this industry, we have encountered only a handful of Solid Gold examples.
Most remain quietly preserved within the collections of long-established connoisseurs, where they are seldom offered publicly and are regarded as permanent centrepieces rather than trading pieces.
The opportunity to see one is exceptionally uncommon.
The opportunity to present one is even rarer.
Just as remarkable is the condition of this particular specimen.
The preservation is nothing short of extraordinary.
Every important detail remains beautifully defined, the relief is exceptionally crisp, and the surfaces display the originality and refinement expected only from the very finest surviving examples.
In our opinion, it is easily one of the most beautifully preserved Solid Gold Rian Huah Toh medallions we have encountered throughout our entire career.
