This particular batch of Phra Chai Wat Cast Images are extremely prominent and highly sought after by collectors all over the world! Blessed in a very grand and elaborate consecration ceremony for ONE ENTIRE “PANGSA” by Luang Pu Tohk.
The word “Pangsa” also known as “Vassa” is the three-month annual retreat observed by Theravada Buddhism practitioners. It takes place during the wet season for 3 months, usually from July to October. It is highly observed to be a very important part of Buddhism and it is representation of “one year” of being a monk.
For the duration of Vassa, monks must remain in one place, typically a monastery or temple grounds. In some monasteries, monks dedicate the Vassa to intensive meditation. In Thailand, the first and last days of Vassa, known as “Khao Pangsa” and “Wan Ok Pangsa”.
There were a total of 3 material variants:
1. SOLID GOLD – Only 3 pieces made in the world
2. SILVER – Only 7 pieces made in the world
3. NAWALOHA – Only 5,000 pieces made in the world
This beautiful and stunning piece is made of NAWALOHA, and although there were approximately 5,000 pieces made.. To encounter a piece in such immaculately preserved condition is of utmost difficulty!
This particular piece is near flawlessly casted with COMPLETE FEATURES!
Amulet as such, are casted using primitive casting methods that involved the pouring of molten alloy into casting mould which will then form the shape of the item. Due to the primitive nature of such casting methods, there are a lot of inconsistencies.
Air pressure which causes bubbling occurs during the casting process making most pieces having a rough and uneven surface with even some items missing important details thus effectively rendering the item “damaged during the casting process”.
The condition is nothing short of spectacular with the entire piece near flawlessly casted with full features and no damage! The texture is immaculately preserved with a reddish hue scattered over the entire surface!
