This spectacular medallion featured today is blessed by the preeminent monk of Luang Pu Thuad amulets, Ajahn Tim of Wat Chang Hai, Pattani. Made in Year 2506 B.E., it is the 1st batch of Luang Pu Thuad amulets to be made in the “Med Tang” variant. The word “Med Tang” translates literally to “Melon Seed” and it is referencing the size of the medallion.

This particular batch of medallions are differentiated into several variants and what is featured here is the TOP TIERED variant!

Known as Rian Med Tang Pim “Nah Pak Si Sen”! The term “Nah Pak Si Sen” refers to the number of forehead wrinkles featured on this particular medallion! And for this particular variant, there are “FOUR LINES” featured on the forehead of the image of Luang Pu Thuad on the front of the medallion!

It is the top tiered variant for a very simple reason: the “Nah Pak Si Sen” variant has only a very limited number of pieces made hence making it highly sought after among collectors!

This signifies the immense fame and reputation of the Legendary monk whom lived more than 400 years ago!

Blessed alongside the iconic Luang Pu Thuad “Lang Tao Reet” and “Lang Nang Sie” batch in Year 2505 B.E. (1962 A.D.), this batch is known as the Luang Pu Thuad “Phi Nai Kahm” batch.

There were a total of 11 mould variants and what you’re looking at is the RAREST AND TOP TIERED variant known as “Pim Kammakahn” (Temple Committee Variant).

This particular medallion is also extremely well known to be one of the MOST PROMINENT AND POPULAR contemporary Luang Pu Thuad medallions made!

The creation of this batch of Luang Pu Thuad amulets were spearheaded by Mr. Sawasdi Chotipanich, the former President of the Supreme Court of Thailand. It was made to raise funds for the construction, renovation and restoration of two “Phra Mahathart” Stupa located in South Thailand. The Stupas are known to one of the largest in the entire South Thailand!

Her Royal Highness, the Queen of Thailand, Queen Sirikit, very kindly conferred 1,200,000 baht (approximately SGD$110,000 adjusted for inflation) to establish the fund. It was also built on occasion of His Royal Majesty, the King of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 50th Year of Coronation!

The medallions were designed by Thailand’s Royal Architect, Momratchawong Mitarun Kasemsi and was minted by the Royal Mint of Thailand.

Blessed in a grand ceremony that took place in Wat Chang Hai. The grand consecration ceremony was presided over by numerous top holy monks of South Thailand such as:

Known as Phra Luang Pu Thuad “Lang Nang Sie”, which literally translates to “Luang Pu Thuad amulet with writings at the back”. Blessed in an extremely grand consecration ceremony, presided by Ajahn Tim, which lasted 3 days in Year 2505 B.E. (1962 A.D.).

The writing at the back is the “katha” (sacred holy prayer) of Luang Pu Thuad:

“Na Mo Poh Ti Sa To, A Kahn Ti Ma Ya, Yi It Pa Ka Wa”

This entire batch of Luang Pu Thuad “Lang Nang Sie” is generally differentiated into two different mould sizes:

1. Pim Yai (Large Mould)
2. Pim Lek (Small Mould)

These two size variants were then subsequently differentiated into a few other mould variants. Around 100,000+ pieces were produced in total and they were differentiated into a few different variants.

This featured piece is known as one of the TOP TIERED “Pim Yai” (large mould) variant. Known among collectors as “Pim Yai Sao Akad”. The word “Sao Akad” literally translates to “Antenna” in Thai referencing the off centered vertical line resembling an “Antenna” featured at the back of the amulet!

The writing at the back is the “katha” (sacred holy prayer) of Luang Pu Thuad:

“Na Mo Poh Ti Sa To, A Kahn Ti Ma Ya, Yi It Pa Ka Wa”

This entire batch of Luang Pu Thuad “Lang Nang Sie” is generally differentiated into two different mould sizes:

1. Pim Yai (Large Mould)
2. Pim Lek (Small Mould)

This signifies the immense fame and reputation of the Legendary monk whom lived more than 400 years ago!
