This amazing piece featured today is the unanimously agreed TOP TIERED medallion of Luang Por Koon, the Holy Monk of the Nakhon Ratchasima.

And perhaps the most notable aspect of this medallion would be it’s amazingly preserved pristine condition..

Even with a naked eye, you can easily witness a “Piu Fai” texture found radiating from the surface of the entire medallion!

It is a chemical reaction that occurs when the alloy and the chemicals on the surface of the medallion comes into contact with the atmospheric components in the air which results in an absolutely unique iridescent/rainbow texture!

It is a natural oxidation process that takes decades to occur, and a prime evidence for industry veterans to properly ascertain that it is in the most original condition without signs of wear, damage or any types of human intervention.

Medallions that are worn, damaged, washed or refurbished will not exhibit naturally occurred textures like the item featured today.

Luang Por Koon is extremely well respected and highly revered by people all over the world. Born into a poor family, Luang Por Koon entered the monkhood at the age of 21 and vowed to remain a monk for life to help develop the quality of life of the poor of his province. He learnt Buddhism and meditation from revered monks in Nakhon Ratchasima. He made years-long pilgrimages to Laos and Cambodia to further practice meditation and promote Buddhism. He reportedly learned magic spells from one of his senior monks and mentors to protect him during his pilgrimages.

Luang Por Koon later returned to Wat Ban Rai and encouraged local residents to build and renovate temples, schools and ponds to help local children and villagers. He gradually became famous, with many having very positive experiences with the amulets, and even documenting many miracles among many of his devotees.

His popularity led to considerable donations, which he spent on the construction of schools, police stations, hospitals and temples.

This particular piece was blessed in Year 2519 B.E. (1976 A.D.) in hopes of raising funds for the construction and repairs of one of the temples he resided in during his youth, Wat Non Muerng. There were a FOUR material variants:

1. GOLD – Only 19 pieces made in the world
2. SILVER – Only 199 pieces made in the world
3. NAWALOHA – Only 999 pieces made in the world

Made in commemoration of the annual “Wai Kru” ceremony that took place in Wat Phra Piren Year 2513 B.E. (1970 A.D). This medallion was designed by the “Artist Companion Relief Society”, an organization that provide support for struggling artists.

The particular medallion features the image of “Por Kae” or literally translated as “Old Father”.

The image of “Por Kae” is regarded as a teacher to all artists in their own respective fields, such as: Painting, singing, dancing and traditional puppets making as well as all branches of arts, which is known to celebrate various occasions and believed to create happiness for their nation.

Therefore, any individual involved in the field of art are required to show respect to the image of “Por Kae”. It is a representation of gratitude to all teachers from past to present.
